Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, Apple ha annunciato che il numero di applicazioni scaricate attraverso il servizio on line App Store ha superato la soglia di 1.5 miliardi, che, in accordo al CEO Steve Job, rappresenta un "traguardo molto difficile da raggiungere per la concorrenza".
Apple ha inoltre sottolineato che ad oggi sono oltre 65.000 i programmi pubblicati per i possessori degli iPod e degli iPhone, inclusa l'ultima variante iPhone 3GS, dall'App Store e che il numero di programmatori coinvolti nell'ambito dell'iPhone Developer Program supera ormai la soglia delle 100.000 risorse.
Agli utenti delle principali device di Apple non manca evidentemente il supporto dal punto di vista del software a pagamento.
CUPERTINO, California - July 14, 2009 - Apple today announced that customers have downloaded more than 1.5 billion applications in just one year from its revolutionary App Store, the largest applications store in the world. The App Store is also growing at an incredible pace with more than 65,000 apps and more than 100,000 developers in the iPhone Developer Program.

The App Store works with both iPod touch and iPhone including the new iPhone 3GS, the fastest, most powerful iPhone yet. Apple has shipped over 40 million of these devices that run apps from the App Store.
